Most “AI chat” add-ons are a generic model with a Shopify logo on it. It has never read your catalog, so when a customer asks whether a jacket runs small or ships to Canada, it guesses — and sometimes it is confidently wrong, in front of your customer.
Mine works the other way round. Before it answers anything, it searches your actual store — products, descriptions, policies — pulls the entries that match, and answers from those. If the answer is not in your store, it says so instead of inventing one. Think of a salesperson who checks the shelf before replying, rather than one who is sure they remember.
